23% of the entrepreneurs in the field of environmental technique are worried about the loss of consumers and the damage of their business model which may be caused by the process of digitalisation. This was explored by the German study „Die Digitalisierung in der GreenTech-Branche“ (2016) by business consultancy Roland Berger. Results of the study show that the influence of digitalisation on present business models might cause the loss of customers and that this possibility is underestimated by most of the affected companies. Hence Roland Berger deduces challenge no. 1: protection of customer contact.
